The Use of Lacanian Psychoanalysis in a Case of FetishismDuquesne University The work described in this article was based on the long-term treatment approach developed by Jacques Lacan, the French psychoanalyst (1901-1981). It provides a first formulation (after about 4 years) of an ongoing case, which has been conducted exclusively by telephone. The myriad significations of a particular fetish object are drawn out and tied to the participant's history, and evolution of the fetish during the course of the analysis is described.
